Fans, Parents, and Alumni Give at Record Pace
Carolina Crown’s 2014 celebration of twenty-five years as an organization featured many noteworthy milestones. More fans, family members, and alumni attended the early season preview show at Gardner Webb University than ever before, a record crowd packed Memorial Stadium in Charlotte for NightBEAT, and nearly 100,000 fans Like us on Facebook.
The outpouring of support continued financially and made 2014 the most successful fundraising year in Carolina Crown history. What was most amazing during this year was the number of new donors who joined in to financially support the many programs Crown has to offer. New fans, friends, and family members from across the US, Canada, the Netherlands and Japan helped in almost doubling the number of donors supporting the Crown organization.
“When Crown Executive Director Jim Coates and I sat down at the beginning of the year and planned all the campaigns, we set fairly modest goals,” said Brad Martin, Director of Development. “Our fans, family members, alumni, and donors have blown us away with their support. Everyone has recognized our goals and needs as an organization and dug deep to help us support the amazing young people that we are privileged to serve.”
The year began in April with the annual CrownJEWELS campaign. Fans were asked to Grow up Crown by taking that next step and becoming a supporter. More than double the fans and friends over previous years answered the challenge.
As the 2014 summer tour began in June, Crown introduced the CrownBOOSTER campaign. Fans and family members could sponsor meals and fuel the members as they blasted off on their journey to DCI Finals. Once again the support was overwhelming, and this first-ever campaign was a huge success.
When it came time to take the corps to Japan in October, friends and family came through again and helped out. And, when it was time to end the year with the Holiday campaign, the support was literally out of this world as we surpassed our goal of raising $20,000!
All of these donations will help the Crown organization continue to pursue its goals. Currently, Crown reaches out into the local community through its Partnership in Education Program to sponsor the York County Honor Band, the BandBEAT High School Marching Band Competition, and the CrownLEARNING series.
This campaign, along with the others, will show future donors and potential partners that Carolina Crown has a dedicated core of individuals who care about the organization and will invest in its future.
Crown Executive Director Jim Coates expressed his excitement about this year’s progress in fundraising, but also emphasized that this is just the beginning. “While this year was a huge success,” said Coates, “we will continue to count on our alumni, fans and family members to help us reach out to even more young people in the future and teach them the value of excellence through a performing arts education.”
There are still holiday ornaments available. You can click here to donate to the CrownHOLIDAY campaign and have your name featured on the Crown equipment truck.
