Day twelve of Spring Training 2014 featured more with Jim Moore!
The morning, and part of the afternoon rehearsal blocks, were filled with dance, as the brass put the final touches to the body movement in the second production, Out of This World. Visual Choreographer, Jim Moore, is really challenging the members more than ever this year. You might even see some gravity-defying lifts thrown in here and there!
In the afternoon, the percussion section worked in sectionals before getting together in full ensemble to rehearse the closing two pieces. This is the first chance they've had to put all of that music together and it's fast and exciting. Percussion Arranger, Thom Hannum, also spent time working with various performers who are adding some 'extra' percussion sounds during the show. We don't want to give away too much about this so you'll just have to wait and see.
The guard spent the afternoon working with the 'new' piece of equipment they are using during the show. Sorry...can't give away too much about that either. But, let's just say it's looking really cool and you'll definitely want to see it!
We capped off another great day with full ensemble, where Jim Moore completed most of the choreography for the opener and the second production. There were no weather issues to slow things down today, so the productivity level was high and everyone felt great! We even began the day with a full yoga session led by Athletic Trainer, Carolyn Drislane, which most definitely helped us start the day off right, and that momentum carried right through to the end.
The pit found a beautiful shady spot for the afternoon.
