On Friday, April 3rd, 2009 at the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, OH, CrownGUARD burst back into the winterguard scene after a 6 year absence from WGI.
The show entitled "Let There Be Light" is based on the concept of the universal connection with light and the human journey to enlightenment. It was a brilliant display of body movement, flag work, and weapon technique. CrownGUARD ended their season as an Independent World Class finalist with an incredible final placement. CrownGUARD also had a booth displayed in the exhibitor's area at the University of Dayton Arena. It provided people the opportunity to purchase merchandise and talk with someone about CrownGUARD, Carolina Crown, and all the many workshops that Crown sponsors throughout the year. Many fans came by the booth to show their support for Carolina Crown and CrownGUARD. The success of this winterguard season already has the CrownGUARD staff preparing for next year. They are starting with the summer colorguard clinic called, "Toss...Spin...Dance" held during spring training at Gardner Webb University. This clinic is geared for all guard members at all levels of ability. Audition dates for CrownGUARD are set for August 29th and 30th, 2009 in the Metro Atlanta Area.
