Brass Caption Head
Carolina Crown, Inc.
To the Carolina Crown Hall of Fame Committee:
I write to you today to nominate Matt Harloff for the 2017 Carolina Crown Hall of Fame. Matt has been a constant force in not only the continued growth of the Crown Brass program but also the growth and development of countless students and teachers to be part of TeamCROWN. Through these contributions he has added not only excellent teachers to the DCI teaching landscape but also developed individuals who have a never lose attitude, a great respect for those around them, and a drive towards doing whatever it takes to make things great.
Matt Harloff’s first summer was 2003 and was part of the team brought in with Jim Coates, Michael Klesch and countless others who have changed Carolina Crown’s projections to unimaginable accomplishments. As a former member of the Crown Brass section, Matt was one of those teachers who made me want to always be my best but also made me feel like I was a valuable part of the Crown Brass family. Matt has an infectious personality and is always getting those around him to continue to find new ways to do things that will continue to make the students better.
As a current teacher with Matt and the Crown Brass section, I can tell you that without a doubt that Matt isn’t in this activity or even teaching for the accolades or the accomplishments. While he is the most competitive person you will ever meet, he does everything with complete effort for the students and to make their experience the best it can be. His “student first” and “the complete student experience” attitude is what I believe sets him apart from any other teacher and friend.
Without a doubt, I write to you to tell you that Matt has helped change the forecast and the projection for the Carolina Crown organization in many ways that people do not see. He has continued to educate the great youth that the Carolina Crown organization has come through its doors as well as take in those who were taught by him to continue to be a great teacher, mentor, and most importantly friend. He embodies everything that Carolina Crown and CrownBRASS stands for and at the end of the day works hard to make sure that his students and family know that he cares about them and he will do ‘whatever it takes’ to help make them succeed.
