The Voice Finalist Katie Basden To Perform at NightBEAT

With the NightBEAT Presents the Tour of Champions show just around the corner, fans are gearing to see the top corps compete in the best outdoor drum corps show in the country. While the show itself has top billing, the pre-show festivities at this July 31st event are shaping up to also be a must see event.

In addition to featuring the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, NightBEAT is proud to announce the addition of The Voice Finalist and Durham, North Carolina native, Katie Basden. Katie grew up in a home full of musical influences. She started her solo career at just 15, and migrated to Nashville, Tennessee after high school in 2010 and has been traveling and playing ever since.

At 6:15pm the NightBEAT pre-show festivities will kick off with Katie performing several songs, including the James Taylor hit and Crown corps song, "Carolina In My Mind." She will also premiere a new song she wrote about the recent tragedy in Orlando, Florida, entitled "Heaven Won't You Come Down." Katie will perform this song with volunteers from Love Out Loud, a non-profit community service organization from Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Katie will conclude her part of the NightBEAT Pre-show festivities by singing "God Bless America" and "America The Beautiful" with the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. NightBEAT is also excited to have the North Carolina Brass Band back to perform the National Anthem.

Prior to the start of the NightBEAT Pre-show, CrownCARES, Love Out Loud and the United Way of Forsyth County will partner with Samaritan's Feet to distribute shoes, socks and a message of hope to 1,000 children from the Winston-Salem community. Members and volunteers of Carolina Crown will also participate in this important community effort which will take place outside of BB&T Field from 2pm to 4pm.

Shoes and socks will also be distributed on Saturday, July 30th, from 1pm to 4pm at Ashley Academy (1647 Ashley School Circle, Winston-Salem, NC 27105), Easton Elementary (734 E. Clemmonsville Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107) and Kimberly Park Elementary (1701 N Cherry St., Winston-Salem, NC 27105).

Please help make this drum corps weekend the most fulfilling ever and join Crown as we improve upon the lives of others. To help with shoe distributions please CLICK HERE. You will be taken to the Samaritan's Feet volunteer site where you can indicate what day, time and location you will be available.
