Crown golfers looked to the skies throughout the morning this past Monday, but the rain stayed away. Week one of June in South Charlotte, NC can be sweltering, but due to the cloud cover and nice breezes from nearby Tropical Storm Colin, the 80 Crown golfers enjoyed a comfortable morning.
For the third year, Palisades Country Club played host to the annual CrownGolf Tournament and the June 6th event saw the largest turnout of golfers yet. Club pro Luke Fancher and his assistants had the course in perfect condition even with the inch of rain that had fallen on Sunday night.
Foursomes from across the Carolinas participated in this important Crown fundraiser. Three teams of local music educators played in this year's tournament with one of the teams, led by Torey Riser, winning the event shooting an amazing score of 51. The second place team was led by Crown alum and American Grocery Restaurant owner, Joe Clarke.
Six restaurants took part in CrownGOLF including The Capital Grille, Blackfinn, American Grocery Restaurant, Vida Cantina, Buca di Beppos, and Menus. Golfers voted The Capital Grille as their favorite. Mary Mizele and her husband Phil, who own Menus Restaurant of Charlotte, catered the afternoon lunch.
