10th Place!!!

Record High Score and Placement Highlight DCI Championship Week

Carolina Crown's 14th season was nothing short of spectacular! The corps finished solidly "in the pack" and was crowned a Finalist corps for the eighth time in their 14 year history! Along the way they set new corps records for highest placement in a Finals week appearance (9th, in both Quarter and Semifinals), and highest score (88.85, received in Quarterfinals). The corps also tied their highest Championship Finals placement, having placed 10th in both 1996 ("Chess and the Art of Strategy") and 2001 ("Industry").

Crown's "Bell-issimo" production received rave reviews from judges and fans alike. Many people remarked throughout the season that "Bell-issimo" was Crown's best show ever! The remainder felt it was certainly in the top 3! The color guard was particularly spectacular throughout the entire season, placing as high as 4th against all Division I corps in major regional/championship shows. The percussion line also had a strong year, placing as high as 7th regional/championship shows and beating some of the top lines a couple of times throughout the season. The horn line was very young, yet came from being one of the lowest scoring lines in the early part of the year to being a "top 12" line by Championship week! Their phenomenal improvement definitely was a major factor in the corps' tremendous finish!

Carolina Crown would like to thank all their fans and supporters for all the ovations! See you in 2004!!!

Crown Ages-Out Largest Class in 14 Year History

The marching career of 28 Carolina Crown members ended on August 9, 2003 with a very inspiring performance at the DCI World Championship Finals. They officially "aged-out" of drum corps, as their 22nd birthday falls before 6/1/04, the cut-off date for eligibility to march the 2004 season.

Of the 28 "age-outs", 12 were 1st-year members, 8 were 2-year members, 5 marched with Crown for 3 years, 2 completed their 4th year, and one was a 5-year member. Nine members of the horn line "aged-out"; 8 were percussionists; 10 were from the color guard; and the last was the corps' drum major of the past three years, David Roth.
