Carolina Crown is extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Lee Beddis as Percussion Caption Arranger/Supervisor for 2007 and beyond.  Lee’s experience at all levels of instruction from tech, to caption head, arranger and percussion coordinator make him the perfect choice for leading the Crown percussion section.

“Lee brings a renewed sense of aggression, intensity and vigor to the percussion section that can certainly match that of the already fine brass and color guard programs” said Jim Coates, program coordinator.  “Beddis has the unique reputation of building quality percussion programs with success in short periods of time and this fits right with Crown’s desired level of success.”

A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Beddis spent his youth with the Peterborough Krescendos, the Canadian Knights, and the Kitchener Dutch Boy drum Corps.  He would later move south to join the ranks of the World Champion Garfield Cadets, in order to become part of the now-legendary “perfect” percussion line of 1987.  After winning his second title in 1990, he aged out, swiftly moving into the role of instructor.

Lee’s most ambitious work for “The Defiant Heart” program of Phantom Regiment helped capture the World Championship in 1996.  In 1997 Lee turned his skills to the rebuilding the Glassmen and within the year, his expertise found immediate reward, moving the percussion section into forefront world-class recognition.  After the successful 2000 season, he moved to the Crossmen where he remained until his most recent time 2005-06 as percussion coordinator with the Madison Scouts.

In addition to drum corps experience, Beddis is in demand throughout the United States and Canada as a highly-regarded judge for Winter Guard International.  He proudly endorses high-quality industry names such as Zildjian, Remo, Vic Firth, and Yamaha, while conducting marching percussion clinics across North America.
