Long-time Carolina Crown volunteer Greg Lowe was recently selected as a 2008 DCI Volunteer of  the Year.  The award will be presented during DCI World Championships in Bloomington, IN in August.

Crown board member Joe Rosemond wrote the following nomination letter on behalf of Greg:

"Over the past 19 years, Greg Lowe has served Carolina Crown in a number of key capacities many of them simultaneously.  From 1990 until 1997, he served as Crown’s first Tour Coordinator.  He has also been a key member of the Crown events committee since 1991 serving as our long-term housing coordinator and most recently, ticket coordinator.  Taking his ticket administrator role to new heights, Greg co-founded and developed Crown Tickets which has become a viable business enterprise for our organization.  Greg is also a member of Crown’s Board of Directors.

Through his involvement with Crown Tickets and DCI’s Tour Event Partners, Greg impacts a far wider drum corps constituency.  His expert ticketing knowledge is a valuable resource for a number of tour events across the country.  Actively involved with TEP events, he’s also become their “go-to guy” for resolving computer related issues at meetings and seminars. 

In addition to Greg’s drum corps involvement, it’s hard to believe that he has a day job as a software developer and is the active father of 4 growing kids, 3 of them triplets!      

In summary, I’ve known Greg for 19 years and have always been amazed at his incredible energy and enthusiasm for Carolina Crown and his uncanny ability to get things done in such an effective manner.  There is absolutely no doubt that Carolina Crown has benefited tremendously from his contributions."
